A LETTER FROM COMMANDER OF R.A. 5TH DIVISION TO:

O.C. 9TH HEAVY BRIGADE R.G.A.
The Brigadier General Commanding R.A. 5th Division. Desires to place on record his appreciation of the excellent service rendered by the 9th Heavy Brigade during the time they have been attached to the 5th Division. Their communications have been at all times well laid and maintained. The fire discipline and service of the guns have invariably been smart and efficient. The Brigade since 9th of April has done fine Artillery work. Notably at the attacks Hill 60 and in the fighting in the Ypres Salient. When guns were swung round from the North to the South inflicting severe loss on the enemy attacking St Julien.
The B.General congratulates Colonel Barney C.B. and the Battery Commanders on their fine Command and wishes the Brigade every possible Good Luck and Distinction.
